Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Valplast different from other flexible dentures?
Valplast is the original and premium brand of flexible dentures. It uses a proprietary nylon thermoplastic that is stronger and more biocompatible than generic flexible denture materials. Valplast has been proven over 60+ years of use worldwide.
Are Valplast dentures better than chrome partial dentures?
It depends on your needs. Valplast is more comfortable and aesthetic because there are no metal clasps. However, chrome partials are more durable for long-term wear and easier to adjust. We recommend Valplast for patients who prioritize comfort and appearance, or have metal allergies.
Can Valplast dentures be repaired if they break?
Valplast can be repaired, but it requires special techniques and materials. Not all dental labs can repair Valplast. We have the equipment and expertise to repair Valplast dentures in our on-site laboratory.
How long do Valplast dentures last?
With proper care, Valplast dentures typically last 5-7 years. They are durable but may need replacement sooner than chrome partials if subjected to heavy chewing forces. Regular checkups help us monitor their condition.
Are Valplast dentures covered by the Victorian Denture Scheme?
Yes, if you are eligible for VDS, your voucher can be used for Valplast dentures. VDS covers the cost of partial dentures, and Valplast is an approved option. Call us to check your eligibility and process your voucher.
Can I eat normally with Valplast dentures?
Yes, Valplast dentures restore good chewing function. There is a short adjustment period of 1-2 weeks. Start with softer foods and gradually progress to harder foods. Most patients adapt quickly and eat comfortably.
How do I clean Valplast dentures?
Clean your Valplast denture daily with a soft toothbrush and mild soap or denture cleaner. Do not use regular toothpaste as it is too abrasive. Soak overnight in Valplast cleaning solution or water. Avoid hot water which can warp the material.
Will people be able to tell I am wearing a denture?
Valplast dentures are designed to be virtually invisible. The pink material blends with your gums and there are no metal clasps to show. Most people will not notice you are wearing a denture unless you tell them.
